It is hard for me to go with a "No" recommendation. I think the game was pretty well executed with some fun puzzles and a good atmosphere. I largely enjoyed it. Gameplay wise, I felt the only real criticism was that despite the story being very much on-the-rails, the are to be explored was expansive. I might have reined that in to keep people from wandering around shrub land for hours looking in every nook and cranny. But that is a minor point.

More to the point, I think the twist ending was not really earned and the narrative collapsed as a result. It left me with more than a few questions about how everything came together and felt lazy, as though the writers had an idea for the endgame but ran out of time and money and went with the easiest route out. I'm a stickler for earned endings. Happy, sad, bittersweet. I can appreciate all of them. And I know it can be hard to land the ending. But if you're not Stanley Kubrick, Cormac McCarthy, Ernest Hemingway, or hell, Steven Spielberg, take the page M. Night Shamaylan should have taken and bring your narrative in for a nice easy landing. Twists are hard, and need to be earned; if they aren't earned then the experience is greatly cheapened.

I played the hell out of this game. Truly one of the most outstanding western RPGs in the last few decades. Extremely well plotted, even if the story is a bit standard. Combat is pretty straight-forward, challenging, but not too clunky. I really can't recommend this game enough.

A solid game. If you like a pretty straightforward platformer with a great deal of atmosphere to go with it, then I'd highly recommend it.

Pros: The puzzles, for the most part aren't mindbendingly complex. Which is a good point here, as it's not a real puzzle game. Strong atmosphere. Intriguing plot. Good voice acting.

Cons: A little more world building might have been beneficial to build up the atmosphere/sense desolation more. After the initial stages, the world seems too bland.
