Unexplored is likely one of the those 'Rogue-lites' that is more comparable to Rogue then even most 'Rogue-likes' are. You play as a solo adventure entering a dungeon in hopes of retrieving the Amulet of Yendor and escaping. There are many a monster that you may run into - and what's neat is that there is a lot to run into to the point that there is never a guarantee that a certain enemy 'will' spawn.

In regards to comparing this game next to those in the genre, I'm reminded a lot of Brogue here - with thes pits that if you fall down into will send you to the next level, lava and underwater lakes of water to transverse, gases to watch out for, and other hazards to deal with. It also makes me think of FTL: Faster Than Light quite a bit with its 'turn-like' gameplay and ability to pause the game.

For those who are familiar with traditional rogue-likes - you'll actually be fairly at home here. While the game is played in real time, you do have a pause on demand option available at anytime you want to sit back and think out what to do in the situation. For those unfamiliar with rogue-likes, this might actually be a good entry to get your feet wet into learning how rogue-likes work.

A worthy game to pick up if are a rogue-like player looking for your next game to check out and play.
