The UI lacks a lot of polish and there are far fewer graphics options than I was hoping for. But the new enhancements make the game much more readable and navigable for casual players like me.

New players will still be confused and frustrated by the game. I don't think that can ever change because the nature of the game is 'detailed simulation' and the game doesn't go out of its way to curate fun experiences.

Dwarf Fortress is the most ambitious game ever made and it will no doubt be receiving plenty of updates to come. It is in a league of its own and I think everyone should give it at least a try. At least 90% of players will bounce off of it probably, but I think a lot of players will come away completely enchanted by the project and what it means for games, art, and software in general.

It is wonderful. It is unlike any other open world game I've ever seen. The dial of quality vs quantity has been broken completely and the game just gives you everything, everywhere around every corner.
