steam says its too long so i cut the boring part, here comes pt 2...

Oh God, what am I doing? All the above is the most dull, uninteresting cr@p You ever read. I want to sell this game to You and not in a Wall Street meeting room way, that would not work. So, change of pace OK? Let's see what is sooo coool about VtMB:
1. graphics (partly): did You think a decade ago how well the faces and facial expressions of Alyx or Breen were made? Wait for ol' pirate Jack (he is in the tutorial so You do not have to wait much) and You'll change Your tune.
2. music, atmospheric sounds and voice acting: they are superb. I only read about the World of Darkness, but they represent well how I just imagined it.
3. writing: those Troika guys really know how to sketch up a completely believable character - with only a few lines of dialogue. The story is also great, the quests varied, entertaining and inspired.
4. RPG elements: it seems that the developers tried to contain as much as possible of WoD in one game, 7 playable clans is very much respectable, adds immense replay value and a great number of combinations to achieve Your goals. Character development is seemingly simple but understanding it a bit more deeply may lead to some head scratching. Meaning it is good 8).
5. quite a selection of vampiric capabilites which complement Your melée wapons or guns. lots of guns.
6. nice selection of occult items which enhace Your capabilities.
7. Have you ever wanted to...
...feed on innocents and baddies alike?
...steal others' lifeforce from afar?
...have a pretty pet ghoul to feel Yourself the center of the universe?
...sell a bubblegum and some blood to an idiot who thinks these will help with his vampirism?
...lure girls into a dark alley to... to... suck on their neck?
...boil Your enemies blood so they explode?
...steal drugs from a hospital for the junkie owner of the local pawnshop?
...bring peace to a ghost who haunts an old, abandoned and spooky hotel?
...damage invaluable paintings?
...get a suitcase from under the nose of not one but two gangs for the local arms dealer?
...assassinate a russian mob boss boondock saints style?
...send a swarm of insects or bats to destroy Your enemies?
...lure an annoying tv personality to the hands of a cannibalistic vamp?
...do favors for the boss of the most monstrous vamp clan - for posters with some female in-game characters scantily dressed?
...destroy a snotty restaurant's reputation?
...move faster than Neo?
...get love letters from a centuries old vamp 'exotic' dancer?
...kill a score of zombies?
...use a bush hook to kill the baddies (and goodies)?
...destroy the reputation of a celebrity and drive her into suicide?
...help out a plaid skirt japanese schoolgirl with destroying a fish smelling demon?
...get a pair of human eyes for an evil little old man?
...play a character whose talk even You barely understand? (Play Malkavian! 8)
...collect the blood of Your victims into a perversed half-alive creation for later use?
...have 5+1 different endings?

...then this game might be just for YOU!
(How was the sales pitch?)

Partly due to its troubled history however the game has its problems. The bugs were well wiped out thanks to community effort but still has minor annoyances. Nothing game breaking but like e. g. when You face a boss, there is some talking and after that You have to reselect Your weapon. Things like that, nothing major.
Steam has the latest official version, some of the major bugs were addressed in that but You would probably do Yourself a favor installing one of the community patches:
True Patch Gold aims to totally conserve the original gameplay while addressing the bugs.
Unofficial Patch has two flavors, the basic patch more or less does the same, though some minor changes were made to the original to make some things more logical. In the expanded 'plus' version (it is one download You decide which to use while installing) however the creators tried to restore and even recreate much content cut from the final game, including places, weapons, abilities, weapons, dialogues, quests etc.
If You are a purist and want to experience the original game, True Patch Gold is for You.
If You do not mind a few changes but want the original experience, UP basic might be the way to go.
If You want to see the game as what it could have become if not for its troubled history, choose UP plus.
And please, please do not ask in forums which to choose, the above should be enough information. There is a years long flame war involving the patches, their creators and their supporters. Don't spill oil onto the flame. It is a shame, both are great, took up a lot of time and work, both deserve respect.

As a closing, a few notes, hints, advices:
- save often. Really. There is a quicksave function, You can have a few, it is nat too hard to press F5 (or whatever).
- spend some time studying the character sheet and understand how feats work, what adds to them etc. Don't throw around Your points, there won't be that many.
- understand how skill books work so You can get the most of them.
- specialize. It might be hard, You'll need some unarmed to feed, also there is a quest which is very hard without celerity discipline or ranged - on the other hand the game seems to push You toward melée.
- have spare XP points unspent as many as You can. The amount in later game may go up to 50-60. You never know when You'll need to spend a lot to buy in to a skill that You need to complete a quest to Your satisfaction. You WILL need for example high computers and lockpickig, if You spend all Your hard earned XP on fighting/social skill You will be in trouble with side quests, maybe even main ones. Btw, You might think that the game will throw a lot of XP at You later in the game, it won't. Conserve.
- if You are completionist, and Your ego can stand it use a walkthrough, otherwise there will be a lot of saving/loading and running around. You don't know beforehand which solution to a quest will yield the best reward. Dialogues are also unfriendly: if You choose the wrong line You might never get to the option that gives the best option. Also NPCs are rarely very clear concerning their wishes. If they hint that it would be appreciated if You did X quest without bloodshed that means that You SHOULD do it that way for the best reward. They are often not even this clear.
- if You want to have all endings as an option in the endgame You have to forget about roleplaying and go for shameless bootlicking and say to all major players what they want to hear, all the time.

This is it. Well, not much of a review, but at least it is long 8).

PS: If You liked Bloodlines You might also want to try Redemption. Even older and uglier and starts a bit slow, quite different from VtMB but has its good points, a very enjoyable experience. VtMB is available on Steam, VtMR on GOG.com.
