Trans representation in Cyberpunk 2077 matters, but not because it s cyberpunk

Even before its recent public gameplay unveiling, Cyberpunk 2077 was the target of a very particular piece of criticism. Perhaps sparked by the transphobic joke made by the game’s Twitter account, many online have been calling out 2077 for presenting yet another future that, despite its overt themes of transhumanism and body modification, falls strictly into the gender binary. Despite the gender diversity already prevalent in our own world and time, players in 2077 are asked to choose between a strictly male or female character. Many online have been saying that this is at odds with the very genre from which the game gets its name and ideas. Cyberpunk shouldn’t be cis! is more or less the argument. This criticism has dogged the game for weeks now and will probably follow it all the way to release. Yet it doesn’t quite ring true to me.

using a male/female system is just less logistics, hell the MC could identify is a horse for all i care.
i swear if this ends up hurting Cyberpunk 2077 those damn social justice warriors are going to pay.

I want to play as a transgendered person in cyberpunk 2077. But in a future where you can, and indeed most people do replace arms with miniguns and legs with springs, one wonders what the functional gameplay or story difference would be, assuming changing gender in cyberpunk will be just as easy as getting a new augmentation.

I don't think an AI based Human/Cyborg would care to much for arguments about gender, you would fail due to the nature of the AI gender isn't an issue but more a disguise of it's true self an automaton.

And lets face it, full human prostesis removes all worry of gender anything...
The thing that bothers me is the ignorance of Transgender people and children not understanding the shere hell the kids will go through just so mommy/daddy can prove a point....

I support gay people.
It helps with overpopulation on the planet and leads to an evolutionary dead end.
This is much better than using bombs and depleted uranium ammo and friendlier to the planet in the long run.
The world would be a better place if a lot more people were gay.

This crap doesn't matter. Can we just have a game without having to hear these autists screech about representation? they're like cockroaches. they get into everything, contribute nothing, and eventually you have to throw it all away.
