i grabbed this game in a sale because the art looked cute and i liked the sound of catching bugs.
i ended up playing through the whole game in one sitting, as well as getting all achievements, as i was captivated by the world and story told.
the atmosphere built is beautiful; disasterpiece's immersive and soothing music meshed so well with the simple but engaging exploration of the marshlands in all their stunning colours. this game achieves vibrancy without overloading the player with visual information, using a combination of biomes and day/night cycles to create lovely colour harmonies.
the first few minutes of the game are mostly free of dialogue as well, immersing the player as they need to work and explore to gain any sort of information as to where they are or what they're doing here, even when dialogue is presented it often takes an abstract and poetic approach, giving the player a lot of freedom to interpret the story and narrative in their own way.
without going into spoilers (because i really do think its best going in knowing as little as possible) this game surprised me in the best ways possible, giving me much more than i expected and filling a little bug-shaped hole in my heart.
