Very true to the original Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive.

Even has some enhancements compared to the developer's last foray into the genre, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, such as the ability to slowdown time with Showdown Mode on the lower difficulties, better graphics, and the ability to quickly select all characters by pressing ~.

Pros:
-Rewards skillful play a lot
-The right game if you are the type of player who likes challenging himself with speed trials etc
-Lots of different playstyles, through the 4 classes and the skill customisation
-The Spirit Mentor is really fun once you get a hang of it, especially in co-op. A lot of cool mechanics via this, such as having to cleverly position the mentor in order to avoid being damaged continuously from a sandstorm.

Cons:
-If you are the type of player who likes to progress via character power, rather than personal skill, this is not a game for you
-Can be a bit hard to get a hang of the Spirit Mentor mechanic

Disclaimer:
The majority of my playtime with this game has been in the standalone beta client, and thus there might be changes I am unaware of, and also, do not trust the "hours played" listed for me.

I was forewarned by a friend not to expect much. That the story told in the game would not live up to the series.

I must say, after having played it, I must beg him to differ. The story is as close as it gets to a GRRM-level plot, without having the man directly involved himself in the writing.

There are surprises aplenty, and characterisations, that get you really involved.

Story-wise, my only complaint is that the Forrester family feels like a palette-swap of the Starks at times. They are still their own personalities, but you still have the southron widowed Lady who was married to a honorable, strong northern Lord, etc.

The graphics are admittedly bad, which at times can be distracting, but overall, a very enjoyable experience that I would recommend playing if you are a fan of the Song of Ice and Fire universe.
