this is a true story... when i was a baby a terrible fire struck my house. i was only two months old, the smoke from the fire wafting into my crib and choking my little lungs. my father was gone in his sleep, crushed by falling pieces of our roof. my mother attempted to save me, but was blocked from entering my room by ferocious flames which licked her skin and sucked the wet remains of her melted corpse through the broken floor boards away from the mortal coil. as an infant i could not have known that my squeamish cries would be falling on deaf ears, as the fire and flame surrounding me had neither a name nor a consciousness, and even if it did have some semblance of consciousness, even by the standards of following fate or god’s commands, it would not have the will to hear my cries and show pity to save me. it continued to attempt to wipe my bloodline and choke the life from me until my faint, choked last breath had been sucked up to the ceiling of my nursery. but then He arrived
