I believe that being in history books or having cities named after you is not what makes you eternal, what really does it are great deeds of bravery and compassion even when no one will hear of it.
If you made someone's else life better, your existence had meaning and great usefullness, so even if there is no heaven, soul or after life, you ARE imortallized :)
