Source shiffted the gameplay to more 'arcady' levels. It's not a bad game, source is still a very enjoyable game to play and one of the best alternetives for those who are looking for a good multiplayer shooter.
If you play 1.6 and then start up a source game the differences are huge, cs:go managed to make a gameplay that resembled 1.6 and even improved it in some ways.
1.6 is still the most challenging and enjoyable CS to date though, nothing can beat the reward you feel when you kill on 1.6.
