Especially for the money, I don't think you'll find a program more fun to use when putting together your games. I haven't found a more flexible engine (Short of maybe Unity, which still requires extra licensing) to quickly piece together scenes and basic mechanics to sketch out game ideas without diving into a million menus. They don't even have to be simple prototypes, as I am also able to implement complex mechanics in no time at all using easy drag and drop scripting. I have found that my only limitation so far has been my own terrible math skill.

The included demo projects and sample files are great and somewhat informative, but could certainly use some clarification. (I believe there is supposed to be some updated content coming soon that may fix that) Either way, the included documentation and link to the wiki contain loads of helpful information to get people started. It is also similar enough to a number of other game maker software titles that it isn't too challenging to pick up if you have ever worked with another game engine, coded your own, etc. I feel like newcomers could benefit from some kind of production workflow explanation to get started, but there is a lot of information on google that got me started just fine.

Basically, everything is self contained within GG Maker, and you could potentially build your entire game (graphics and all) right inside the engine without ever touching another program. The built in sprite editor is nothing fancy, but it certainly does the job. And that is one of my favorite aspects of GG Maker/Engine 001, I think. Tile editor, sprite editor, animation sequencers, interface designer, build sheets for fonts, built in pitch variation on audio, 2D/3D camera views, lighting, etc. Of course, it seems the main purpose is to be an Action RPG engine, it truly doesn't have to be anything of the sort. A downside being a large number of finished (and an even larger number of unfinished) games available out there tend to be formulaic Action RPGs using the stock graphics and little imagination. But there are a few really great looking releases that showcase just what you can pull off with a bit of patience and thought.

One time purchase gets you a fully licensed 2D/3D game engine with a ton of features, the ability to import every resource yourself or design your own inside the creator, construct a game from the ground up with no coding knowledge, release for Android, HTML5, and PC. Top down, side scrollers, platformers, isometric, first person, third person, action rpg, turn based, tactical, etc. You can use the built in systems and make a simple Rpg, like anyone with RPG Maker, or you can design your entire game to the extent of your creativity. YOU have to design the systems for YOUR game, but 001 Game Creator allows you to do it like nothing I have ever used before. Highly recommended.

Have you heard about gamemaker studio 2? Bigger community, much more tutorials, it is free to use until the time you want to build/export your games (lisence for that is under 20€). Visual scripting is possible but so is "basic" coding. 001 was aste of money compared to that. And yeah. You have over 4h hours so you propably know what you are doing with 001 but nowadays it is almost impossible to start. You have basic tutorials (does not really cover anything), steam pages (just copies of tutorials) and paid help service. Also I dont really know any game that would have been made with 001 and there is reason for that. Gamemaker studio 2 has for example undertale, shovel knight, rivals of aether ect. We may ask why it has more better games? Because the whole software is better version of 001 and has actually activw and supporting community.
