This game is actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash without mods. BUT HECK YEAH GET THIS GAME

The following are also problems in the old version.

If you want a challenging game buy Darksouls, Skyrim is supposed to be played on the easier difficulties, and here is why:

The combat system is trash

You get, normal hit, power attack, sprinting power attack, backstep attack (where you will only have enough reach if you use twohanded weapons) and sideways power attack. The power attacks take more time to hit and do only slightly more dmg (They are also supposed to stagger the enemy which is very usefull, when it works, but on higher difficulty very few enemies are actually staggered).
From time to time during combat you sometimes get random kill moves, that take control of your character for too long and break the pace of combat, like a badly placed cutscene. They can even get you killed, because it is so important to you character to stab your enemy a couple of times during the kill move before the enemy is decapitated. Maybe if the your character didnt have a deathwish they'd be able to sidestep the slow snowstorm being thrown their way instead of staying on the spot. (See magick)
It's near impossible to find out if your weapon has enough reach to hit the enemy and sometimes you wil miss them because you cant control how far your character steps when you step forward while attacking

The difficulty scaling absolutely sucks

There are only about three viable playstyles on the hardest difficulty because the enemies take an abnormal amount of hits to kill, so you can fight the same enemy for about 5 minutes only just killing it in that time (and there are a lot of enemies to kill). That should'nt be possible on a character with the highest lvl skills and gear in game. When the strongest weapon type, matched with the strongest enchantments possible without extreme exploits, the highest skill lvl in the appropriate skill and powerattacking, does'nt make a visible dent in the enemy's health, that is what I call spongy.

It also does'nt add up with you getting oneshot even when taking 80% less dmg (which is the most you can get), on a high lvl character that has put 50% of the available skillpoints in health.
Also magick just ends your life out of nowhere on higher difficulty, unless you play with maxed out magick resist gear wich you cant get untill the endgame.

Yo and dragons that are supposed to be cool because the game is about them, are the absolute worst enemies in the game. They fly around your head for 30 seconds where they are hard to shoot, only to hover over your head, breathing fire and frost onto you fors 5 seconds, where you can get a good shot. YES SHOT, BECAUSE YOU ARE FORCED TO USE BOWS OR MAGICK TO FIGHT THEM BECAUSE THEY LAND SO RARELY AND FOR SUCH A SHORT TIME, AND THE MAIN QUEST TAKES HORENDOUSLY LONG TIME TO GIVE YOU A POWER THAT FORCES THEM TO LAND.
