This game released on February 8, 2024, and linking your PSN account was an OPTIONAL FEATURE used for social networking and co-operative game play.

We are now being required to make and link a PSN account to our Steam accounts by May 6, 2024, and forced log-in to the PSN network will be enacted on May 30, 2024.

While this issue is still being pursued by the development and / or PR teams of Arrowhead Game Studios, this PSN requirement will effectively block players from over 100 countries where PSN is not allowed from playing the game until otherwise clarified or given an exception.

In addition to these issues, the anti-cheat used, nProtect GameGuard is a rootkit to the device the game is installed on, and poor anti-cheat quality aside, should never have been required to play the game.

I love this game- The challenge, weapons, "Managed Democracy," and spreading liberty are all greatly entertaining and make for quality pass-times with friends or playing on your own; Additionally, it's made abundantly clear by ArrowHead's continuous engagement with the player base that this is a team with passion behind the project, and who want to refine this game to achieve as close to perfection as they can for all players.

To make things abundantly clear, namely for Playstation / Sony: We, the players, love this game, and the effort Arrowhead puts behind developing this product, but nProtect, PSN linking, and PSN logins must not be required in order to play this game. Once these blemishes are removed, you can have a glowing, positive review.

As of May 06, 2024, PlayStation has released their official statement on X (AKA Twitter) to rescind the enforced account linking.

Notably, there has been no further mention of the game / social aspects being rolled into the PlayStation Network, so further information may be to come.

With this update, the use of a kernel level anti-cheat, especially nProtect, will likely be the only barrier stopping this review from switching to positive.
