What can I say about Bad Rats? I guess I'll start off with how it's influenced me. Bad Rats is a physics puzzle game in which the rats get their revenge on the cats. If you think about it, this is sort of how life works. There is only so much abuse a human can take and at a certain point they begin to act up. They begin to question why they deserve this. They begin to rebel. To some it may seem like a silly pointless puzzle game with horrible graphics and unnecessary violence, but to me Bad Rats is a lifestyle. It changed me. I now look at people a whole different way, and if that isn't a sign that this is a great game I don't know what is.
As far as actual gameplay goes, Bad Rats is revolutionary. The mindnumbingly challenging puzzles and problems that need to be solved can sometimes take up to hours to complete. The sidescrolling utility is matched only by few others such as "The Edd Scrolls IV: Rimdog", "Kaushal Coasters", and "Zoo Tycoon Street". The wacky items you can use add a great element of comedy to an otherwise serious game.
The story in this game is very in depth, but at the same time maintains a force of blunt honesty. It doesn't beat around the bush, but it also doesn't cut things out. An example of this is when The Big Snack in the cave level says to the mouse "This is just kind of surreal. Like it's actually just weird there are cats being killed right now. Whoa." This dialogue is unmatched in most games. It's very realistic to real life, and that's part of the reason I love the story in this game so much.
Overall this game earned a 8/10 for me. It was a huge waste of my time and of my $.50. I regret even buying into it as a joke.
