Managed Democracy wins again! My local Ministry Of Truth Officer has informed me that all are welcome to become Helldivers! We either dive together or not at all!

Despite a very rough launch Fatshark have once again knocked it out of the park with this one. There are plenty of problems still persistent in it's current state but no other game really captures the atmosphere and tone of Warhammer 40k quite like Darktide. Fatshark have perfected the blend of melee and ranged combat in the horde shooter genre and Darktide shows just how good at it they've gotten. Plus Jesper Kyd absolutely kills it with the soundtrack.

Payday 2 is one of those games that I'm very conflicted about. When it first came out, it lacked in both content and enjoyability. However, over the years, Overkill has slowly expanded it with free content updates and DLCs. The DLCs though are what kill it for me. More than half the DLCs are utter crap or stupidly necessary. Some DLCs will add weapons or masks that are trash and are there only for the novelty while others add items that should have been in the base game or make current base game weapons obsolete. Another thing that Overkill did was the introduction of skins and microtransactions. They introduced safes and drills, which are both needed to gain a single skin for a gun. The safes were gained through playing the game while drills were only given out very rarely, causing the market for skins to explode in prices.

The good news? Overkill does listen to the community of Payday and have since gotten rid of having to buy drills, and safes are a lot more common. The skins are actually pretty cool and don't give any advantages over people who don't have them. Payday 2 has also started to improve their latest DLCs over the past year as the new content is definitely worth it.

My only remaining complaints about this game is how it really pushes 3rd party games, like Dead By Daylight or Hotline Miami, and the massive problem with balancing. This game, just like many FPS games before it, struggles with balancing out the different playstyles. Some guns are clearly superior and there a select few skills in the game that are completely broken. Since the game came out, Overkill has struggled to find the happy medium between light dodgy builds and slow tanky builds.

Overall, Payday 2 is still definitely worth it. A lot of the newer heists are hilariously fun, the characters are all very unique, and the community isn't 100% ass-hats.

Final Verdict: 7/10

Despite Angry Joe's review of this game, it is NOT a pay-to-win mechanic. Yes, you can pay to get new high-tier cards, but the only difference between Bronze, Silver, Gold and Cobalt cards is the color design of the character. A bronze is just as powerful as a cobalt. The only aspect that might be viewed as pay-to-win is that you can buy characters directly for $10 each. However, the price of characters isn't too steep that you can't work for them through playing the game. Each character should take only a week or two to unlock, less for the cheaper characters. The game is fairly well balanced in regards of both characters and maps, with the exception being one map (Underground) that heavily favors the attackers. On the whole, the community isn't filled with uptight asshats like other games like CoD or Dota.

8/10 - Would play again.
