The Ramp: Conceptual Masterpiece, Untapped Potential.
The Ramp is a simple but engaging game where you practice sick tricks with your skateboard on a four different maps, each with different attributes that encourage certain mechanics. See my rating at the end, after reading the rest of the review.

Pros:
Mechanics & Nuance:
The mechanics of this game seem incredibly simple, and they are at a surface level to get into, but there are many things that you can do to maintain momentum. These include grinding on rails, spinning in the air, or simply using the carefully curated maps to your advantage. You won't utilize all of these to your fullest at first, but, you'll soon learn how to use everything this game offers in tandem. Once that happens, the game becomes great.

Controls:
This is the main appeal of the game. The controls of your skateboard allow you added flexibility and ease to do tricks. It feels so fluid in your hands, and even doing the simplest of motions is satisfying in it of itself. Although, it must be stated, this game should 100% be played with a controller if a player wants the best experience.

Graphics:
As opposed to the rampant development of ultra-realistic graphics found in gaming as of late, The Ramp chooses simple models that get the job done. But, what it does best, is the contrasting palette of Orange and Blue. The maps were tailored to either have warm or cool colors, and depending on which they have, the background is either a bright Orange or a bright Blue to contrast.

Cons:
Length:
Despite the praise I have given about this game, there is one glaring problem. It's too short. After getting all the achievements and trying out every map, there's nothing else you can possibly do that you haven't already done before. It's infuriating, as great as this game is, I can't bring myself to play it for over 2 hours simply because there isn't anything new to do. I think that Paul, with newfound experience of his, needs to create updates to this game in order to flesh out this amazing concept more.

Suggestions for Improvement:
Level Editor:
I believe a map editor and a hub where users can submit their maps would be beneficial, as it creates a plethora of potential content without the added commitment of the developer constantly adding things.
Additionally, if this were to be a feature, it would be nice to add a type of map that has an objective of some kind, or an ending goal or area that you must advance to.

Personalization:
Unlocking cosmetics, not in the way of micro transaction, would benefit this game greatly. Added skins for your character or skateboard would give an incentive to doing certain tasks, such the ones that are achievements now, while also rewarding the player for playing. Alternate palettes that can be unlocked would also work to the favor of The Ramp. The contrasting colors of Blue & Orange being substituted for another inverse pair, such as Green & Pink, at the choice of the player, would personalize the game in a way that is not available now.

Rating:
6.5/10
I can't feasibly give this any higher than a 6.5, as much as it hurts me to say. The game just needs more to be whole. Despite this, I would 100% recommend this, although try to get it for a reduced value.
