In a time where games feel like they're being made by people that don't care for the product they're developing and are just working on whatever pays the bills, this game feels like a breath of fresh air.

Tried it again roughly a year and a half after release and the game is a lot better, in fact I'd say it's mechanically where it should have been on release. The game doesn't have the amount of content Payday 2 does but that's just how it works with releasing a sequel to a game that was supported for so long, so if you want as much content available as possible I recommend you to play Payday 2. That being said, this game is enjoyable as well.

Early Access Review
The best co-op game I've played that is in a similar vein to Lethal Company since... well, Lethal Company. Definitely recommend this.

It's a good game that I enjoyed, though it isn't perfect. I went into this with high expectations. I think it's easiest to break the game down into categories:

- Soundtrack: It was great. Nothing else to be said, it was good.

- Graphics: The game looks amazing.

- Story: I haven't read the Journey to the West (though I get the gist of it), but I had no idea who most people were. Still, a lot of characters were pretty cool.

- Combat: This is a tough one. The combat feels great, fluid and was fun, but it got stale at some point because it felt like I had just been using the same moves over and over. I don't expect the game to keep giving me new moves (which to be fair, you can unlock more in different stances), but those moves didn't feel like they were much better or useful in other scenarios than the default stance, and even by the end of the game you don't have nearly enough sparks (skill points) to try out more. Yeah, I can reset my sparks for free (which is good!), and try more, but I have to settle for something at some point while I'd like to use more of them without having to lose sparks in another skill. I ended up using my sparks for the default stance and then went for the stat boosts. Magic is fun to use but why is there no way to gain mana (unless I missed it?) back unless you rest? Spirits are cool in idea but I got one I liked early on and ignored the other I got throughout the game because there was no reason to bother with them.

- Length/Chapters/the world: The game is made up of six chapters. It took me around 30 hours to beat, though you may take less or more time depending on your skill. I think this is a weakness of the game though. The game is too long for the variety it offers. Chapters three and four were rough for me, I didn't enjoy them, especially chapter three because it turned the game into a kind of open world game but navigation wasn't fun without a map and everything looking same-ish with it being a snow map. Chapter three felt like a chore at some point. I was bored of the map, the same few enemies that kept repeating, the combat being same-ish and the game felt like it was dragging on. Thankfully chapter four was better and chapter five was great again and I started enjoying the game a lot more again, but as I said, if the game was shorter those two chapters would not have felt like they were dragging on as much.

Buy it on a sale if you're considering it. Not worth the full price and even then I'm not sure I can recommend it.

- It's a short game
- A lot of time I wasn't sure if my choices mattered at all, which also makes it questionable if replaying it gives a fresh experience
- The intro starts off strong but the quality drops off fast
- The dbd references were cool to see but sometimes they made no sense
- Some characters weren't interesting in my opinion
- The performance isn't good
- I think the game would have benefited a lot from not killing Frank Stone in the intro, I'd have liked to have him as an actual human threat and not the ghost version we got

I really like Kingdom Hearts and replayed the two games before playing the third one for the first time ever and while this game stepped up a lot, there are also things that made me feel annoyed at the game sometimes.

What I liked (partially in comparison to KH1/2):

- The graphics are beautiful and the game runs well. Obviously this is to be expected after coming from the PS2 era, but the game looks amazing, the animations are great and the general art direction of the game is awesome.
- The soundtrack is great
- Combat feels smooth, feels great and is generally fun
- Little Chef
- ReMind was great

What I disliked (again, partially in comparison):

- I know Kingdom Hearts has always been heavy on the cutscenes and there's nothing wrong with that in itself, but there were so many cutscenes, and this is honestly my biggest gripe with the game. Seriously, there's a lot, and they were constantly interrupting gameplay. Finally get to fight a group of enemies? You fought them? Well, next room there's cutscenes waiting. The pacing was totally ruined sometimes with the amount of cutscenes and especially the timing of WHEN they were being played. Please let me play the game.
- While combat was fun, a lot of it also boiled down to press triangle to win. I've not played the games on proud mode or critical mode so I wasn't playing for the challenge to begin with, but I wish there was, again, less animations for all the triangle pressing, I don't want to be taken out of the combat which was otherwise very fluid and fun. I know I can ignore the prompts but I DO want to use the abilities because they were cool, but don't make them take me out of the flow.
- Why were there no Final Fantasy characters? :(
- I didn't like Arendelle or Kingdom of Corona being worlds, just personal opinion but it didn't really feel Kingdom Hearts-ish?

Overall a good game but I'd wait for a sale unless you're a KH fan
