The core gameplay has been improved from Payday 2. That's the important bit!

Guns feel more impactful, enemies are more reactive to your shots. Explosions are huge, and the environment is now full of red-barrel type stuff to blow up. Neat!

Cops AI is more interesting, enemies will group behind shields, dozers do ramming maneuvers and taunt you, cloakers are really tricky and will wallrun and ninja flip around you before the approach.

Movement has been improved significantly, you can sprint everywhere unlimited (even with bags!), slide, vault objects, and quickly climb through windows/vents.

Hostages have been improved and simplified, you can take as many as you want, multiple can follow you, and you can now take civilians and stunned cops as human shields.
Hostages can be traded to delay the initial assault, or for healing items between waves.

Stealth has been made more interesting, and more forgiving.
You can now accomplish a lot of different goals while masked off in casing mode.
Guards have additional behaviours before they go right for the radio, such as escorting or cuffing you, and entering search mode, where they break their patrol pattern.
Additional infiltration tools were added as well, such as runtime hacks, and the portable camera and motion sensors.

Less drills.... still some drills, but less drills. A lot of electronically locked doors and goofy ah 'hold my phone up for more wifi signal' objectives. Overall heist designs are better, but I do miss some of the simpler jobs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really *need* to write anything negative about this game, we already know what features its missing from PAYDAY 2.

Always online sucks, skills and weapon mods are underwhelming, progression system is frustrating, no lobby options at all, meager content on launch, etc.

It's fun, it'll get better.

this game is sick... and by sick, i mean ill.... and i dont mean ill like 'sick', but like, cool and awsome.

hardcore and very Deep soundtrack, all original visuals and cutscenes rendered on REAL silicone graphix computers, fun and creative maps, and 1000 one-liners that you grandma you live with wont approve of (dont let her see level 7!!).

it feels like right now theres a lot of boomer shooters out there... even big corprote entities r' licensing their own run n guns... and sometimes it feelz like if you played one you played them all, but this ones LEGIT.

this is authentic, no holds barred, nards to the yard 90s styles. this is like if the movie Freaked was a videogame, but way more gnarly.

its also fun as h*ck!! sludge launcher is too cool... love messin up psykos with their own explosives...
once u learn which enemies give you most hackblood, you can totally own them every time with your powers... (tip, pro tip new players NOTE THIS)

its like, 8 or 9 levels, and you can beat it in a couple hours (if you're a dumb nerd who cant find any secrets ;D), but they're all super memorable, plus a few bonus ones if u beat it.

highly recommended this game to boyz, ladies, and grownup childrens of all age and gender.

FUN FACT: slayers X was really actually conceptualated (sp??) in 1998 and took longer to make than duke nukem forever (may his soul rest in piece).

tl;dr : BUY ThHIS FREAKIN GAME AND FUND ZANE LOFTON CEO FUTURE OF THE SLAYERS OR YOU KNOCK FARTS AND BURGLE TERDS.

PS if you don't 'get it' you're probably just not smart enough, so like, yeah bwl.

P.P.S. if you never been to boise, idaho, this is basically all true. interstate 86 is really just like that.

P.P.P.S zane should put the final weapon in the first level.... as a secret for beating it...

"You are not as strong as the creatures in this world."

A really fun singleplayer action RPG, with a decently sized open world to explore, sequence choice, lots of fighting game mechanics, and tough enemy encounters.

I love ACE Team and the Zenozoik games a lot. Their surreal visuals, unique and *stubborn* characters, anarchistic themes of found family, and the nature of law and order come together to make vibes like nothing else.

The soundtrack is INCREDIBLY ambitious, and filled with motifs from previous entries of the series.

ACE Team has been reiterating on this world again and again, since their days as DOOM modders, and this entry feels like their years of experience let them finally able to push the scope, to make the game they've wanted.

It is probably one of my favourite games this year.
It is beautiful, and brutal, and melancholy, and much more than just some souls/dad-of-war game. It's a Zenozoik game.

"While there is no justice, there will be no law."

------------

My complaints are super minor, mostly QoL stuff.
Hard to find all the items since they have no outlines etc and are hidden all over in crags, the map can't be zoomed into so it's hard to read all the connections between the zones.

but I 100%'d it anyways!!

Now for a level 1 run :)

Early Access Review
Project Malice is an... isometric spectacle fighter made in game maker studio 2, that is also a roguelite.
impressed solely by that.

cute characters and graphixx, supa fast gameplay, nice music.

the game has a cool dreamlike/liminal thematic, a multiverse of disparate OCs from the developers former games, with wacky kingdom hearts/homestuck esque background stories, and there's direct references and internet poisoning throughout.

also, its got boinking ;)

its a super self indulgent kinda project.
it comes together real well though, and i'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes :>

Great arcade style aim training/speed runner game, w/ cyberdelic environments, cute character designs, and a banger soundtrack.

The paths you take, and which panels you decide to shoot dictates how much the game demands from you.
The more panels you hit, the faster you move, and the faster you'll have to react.
Perfecting no miss runs, looking for shortcuts, and chopping down those times is all great fun.

It's not all aim, and no fun! This isn't just a training tool, Rayze is a Rave!
Enjoy the music and find your flow!

a bass driven adrenaline pumping ritual of violence, with one of the best OSTs and bleak moods ever put into a cyberpunk game. very fast pace, fun to speedrun, always a thin line between life and death.

unique time altering mechanics, multi-dashing hack and slashing, overclocking your hormones, brain jacking, and an amazing ton of weapon variety, especially on NG+

its a story about the nature of freedom, how capital and technology devalues humanity, how society is seperated from the horrors right beneath the surface, and whether or not you really have any control over it all.

and best of all, you play a submissive, faceless, augmented murder boy named "puppy", getting encouraged all the way as you slaughter corporate police, paramilitary augheads, and human trafficking syndicates.

it's hot. not enough people completed this game, get good and go puppy go!

downhill jammin' roguelite (very lite), with super satisfying and technical gameplay, obnoxious cosmetics and hats to unlock through lots of in-game 'chievements and secrets, mods, and tons of hand-built bike parks to master.

there's lots of replayability with the procedural runs, daily challenges, and sponsorship goals...,
absolutely addicting gameplay loop, maybe too much...

be warned, while it starts easy to get into, the later procedural level biomes are hard as diamond, and never let you get too comfortable.

this is the real descendies now...

if you like extreme sports games, bailing like a goofus, and high skill cap movement mastery thats on par with Skate, this da game for you.

ELECTRIC BLOOD MAGIC!!!!

An incredibly fun arcadey beat em up, that does a good job translating spectacle fighters into a sidescrolling format. This game goes HARD.

Dripping with edgy, 2000s punk-emo style, its a window into a simpler time where you could just, make something sincerely Cool.

Multiple difficulties, co-op, and a smorgasbord of Arcade levels keep me coming back, to smash more cyborg heads into walls.

Ska studios #1 babyyyyyy

Thoroughly disgusting. Utterly deranged. Entirely unserious and absurdist.

Super cute, and super fun!

Hell Pie the journey of a diminuitive Imp named Nate and his quest for gag-worthy cuisine, through the bowels of a corporate hell, to the polluted, sadistic earth with its adorable and wretched critters, and finally a heaven that's full of spineless, giant babies and dumb little cherubs who seem to not mind their frequent enslavement.

( Love Gushing )

The movement mechanics are freeform but challenging to get the hang of. The level design is also super open to reflect this. Opening up the game as you acquire skills, and seeing pathways and gaps that were previously impossible become reachable is a great feeling.

You can see the DNA of a lot of other games in this in the gameplay, and the world is full of direct references to 3D platformers and other media, but its played originally enough to not pull you out of the game.

The creature designs are both cute and unsettling, the game worlds are colourful and full of debris, and meticulous details. It's dense, and messy, and the main 3 worlds are a treat to explore.

The soundtrack is AMAZING, and as bizarre and eclectic as the rest of the game.
Extremely varied and well crafted, with genres from corporate New Wave, Bubbly Pop, Disco, House, French Cabaret, Psy Trance, Industrial, and Metal.

( Petty Complaints )
Its a little short, I completed it 95% in 13 hours, but a great size for an indie title.

The hitbox on the ground attacks are pretty small, so i find myself short-hopping just for the bigger air-attack.

Some more ways to use the horns would be nice.
A lightning shield while the light horns are active, big punch attacks while the arms are equipped etc.

There's a lot of money to pick up, but nothing to spend it on besides costumes.

There are guns in several sections of the game, including the final boss, but the mechanic isn't available enough.

( Final Conclusions )

Hell Pie will definitely put some people off with its extreme comic violence, and grossout humour, but its a point that drew me in personally.

If you like 3D Platformers, and can stomach the setting, this is a wonderful gem of a game.

A lot of love has gone into this filthfest.

Check it out!
