  • Vermintide 2 is my favourite co-op game, hands down.
  • The mechanics are quite unique and take some learning & getting used to.
  • Requires a solid pc to achieve a smooth framerate and good visuals.
  • The gameplay only starts becoming challenging (aka fun) at Champion, and really only at Legend difficulty.
  • You probably need to like the Warhammer universe or have the visuals cranked up to enjoy the game enough to get to Legend :')
  • High difficulties are perfect for people who like raiding or the more challenging Destiny PvE stuff, but want a fast, focused 4-player experience.
  • Rocky update history (beastmen were ROUGH) but always ends up better than before, imo.
  • Fair pricing. Only the lobby host needs to have a DLC for you to play the maps!
  • Fantastic voices.
  • You'll never be as good as Cousin Okri.

For people who haven't played Vermintide before...

Vermintide takes the Left 4 Dead structure pretty much whole-cloth, but adds RPG features (classes, sub-classes, talents, gear) and completely redefines the shooting/bashing/melee gameplay by adding resources to manage, critical hits, cleaving, buffs, special traits, temporary health, etc. You must manage your stamina between blocking, shoving and dashing, or your guard will be broken. Each subclass has their own ability that they build meter for by dealing damage.

Building a party that complements each other makes a huge difference, and working together is essential. Special enemies can be big threats, but in order for your glass cannon characters to take them down you need the tanks to keep the hordes at bay - it only takes a couple of hits to take the more fragile characters down. You'll need some serious crowd-clearance, too, or risk being overwhelmed.

For people who have played a few hours and aren't feeling it yet...

I feel you. The game doesn't explain itself well and doesn't provide an adequate challenge early on - most of the fun comes when you know you can't take more than a couple of hits. My only advice is to play through the missions in order (otherwise it will be a long long time before you see them all) and raise the difficulty as fast as you can reliably manage. Focus on getting one character to level 30 and 300 power ASAP, so you can start learning how to play Legend, which I think is the most fun part of the game! Also, do google specific mechanics when you're unsure how they work, it's not worth the uncertainty :)
