Journey to the Savage Planet, where do I start?

For me again one of those games where I not only want a thumbs up or down, but also the option of a neutral rating option. Since reviews are actually always a personal opinion and not always have something to do with the quality of the game, this option would be really desirable.

Why would I like to give the game a neutral rating? Well, that's not that easy to explain somehow. In short: bright and colorful sci-fi adventure with a huge potential for frustration ...

... But let's just start with the game itself because that's actually, I think, to be rated really positively.

According to our client, the exploration of AR-Y 26 is only about scanning the environment and collecting samples. This is to ensure whether a colonization of the planet would be possible. Unfortunately, our spaceship crashes on the planet and we have little idea, let alone any kind of equipment at hand, and so this exploration mission also turns into a rescue mission on our own behalf. Since we want to find out whether a life on the planet is possible, we run around most of the time with our scanner and scan everything that comes in front of the lens. Apart from a wide variety of biomes, the planet also has a lot of strange animals that we can kill with our weapons to exploit resources or step into circular saw traps. The opportunities for improvement that we are offered by doing research or consuming the orange goo are to be rated positively. This increases the "rank" and you unlock new equipment that you can then 3D print in the spaceship.

Now for the negative part for me:

Unfortunately there is no card in the game, which often requires a lot of patience. Sometimes the game is just completely opaque and you waste a lot of time looking for things because of the missing map. Due to the inadequate control, both with keyboard and mouse, as well as with the controller, some jumping and climbing passages quickly become annoying and frustrating challenges.

My recommendation is to finish playing the game in one go. I couldn't do that due to a lack of time and when I was at it again I had real difficulties finding my way back into the game and often didn't know what I was last doing and how it should go on...

MY PROS AND CONS:

✅ colorful game world
✅ funny opponents
✅ varied level design
✅ good fast travel system
✅ research is rewarded
✅ a lot to discover

❌ Too much searching due to missing card
❌ very high potential for frustration
❌ no saving
❌ bad control
❌ only one level of difficulty
❌ low replay value
