Short, sweet and not at all what the negative reviews seem to think it is?

This game is great, and coming from someone who typically *hates* puzzle games, this is so, so far from random chance lol. Trial and error, sure, but not to the point of frustration? Apologies if this tickles anyone the wrong way but you have to be really really forcing yourself to do something a single way to be stuck on any level other than the final few for more than 20 minutes. Doing the challenges is another story but that is supposed to be more complicated, the main game itself is very enjoyable, straightforward and interesting.

I'm always a fan of games that full send on one weird, niche concept and thats definitely what happened here. I would say getting this for under like 10 bucks is worthwhile, thats 2 beers out at a bar in todays economy and you can just play this game with a six pack in the fridge for a little bit more money and a lot less awkward exchanges with strangers.

I appreciate the art and despite some jank to some of the animations the style is just oozing off of every corner of this game. Mechanically I really liked how it did feel like it was going further and further to push you to use all the mechanics at your disposal, there was quite a few times where I had the "let me cook" going in my head for a stupid strategy that ended up being not so stupid. Chaining headshots and getting enough distance to penetrate armor or angling it just right to bounce off certain things is very satisfying.

Its a very fair thing to say that a game wasn't for you, but reading some of the negative reviews (aside from the one that had issues with flashing lights, which, fair) really just came across like all those Elden Ring DLC reviews. "The game didn't roll over for me and actually made me try/think a bit, 0/10" like get out of here lol. The people complaining that you "cant find any of the enemies" have to be blind because I AM colorblind and still found the enemies fairly easily on my first go of each level. At most you had to reset once but if you mark them with the middle mouse button they stay marked on further attempts, so I really don't know what the complaint was. Sorry the puzzle game didn't bend over and let you first time every level?

If you want a unique, brief experience that does its best to really go above and beyond on the style while maintaining quality of the substance, Children of the Sun is a great time. If this seems interesting to you, pick it up and try it and just keep an eye on the refund window to see if you want to hang onto it and go for all the challenges and whatnot. I had a good time, and assuming you arent a whiny baby, you probably will too!
