Counter-Strike Source is the pinacle of the online shooter genre. This is the single game that started it all, for me at least. This game was released nearly 10 years ago on PC, in 2004. However, it is still one of the top 10 most played games on Steam today. There's no denying it has stood the test of time, as thousands continue to enjoy this classic game to this day. The gameplay was amazing in it's time, you could say it was one of the first great online shooters of it's time. Although, it is not the gunplay alone that makes this game a classic. It's the mods; custom maps, game modes, weapon and character skins, all things that make this game far more unique than any other. You could say the developer's and the community's modding and customization innovations are what have kept this game relevant for so long. It may not be the best today, but it was a pioneer for game customization and modding, it set the example for the future! A future where online games are an open canvas for modders and casual gamers alike to make their games unique to their personal preference, or to just improve the game overall and add their own touch of creativity here and there. It was also once the most played and downloaded online action game in the world. Who can argue wiith that? I highly suggest you pick it up sometime then discover and enjoy where it all began.
