Nefar Origin: Neverwinter Nights [WOH Nefar] Circa 1991-1997 on AOL

Neverwinter Nights was a trailblazer, being the first multiplayer online role-playing game to feature graphics. This game laid the groundwork for the online gaming revolution. Playing on AOL meant paying by the hour, which was a painful expense at the time.

Throughout my gaming career, I've led numerous guilds and still game with friends I made in the '90s. One of my most prominent guilds was 'Dread Guard.' We began as a friends and family guild in World of Warcraft (WoW) before transitioning to retail. Our base was on the Sargeras server, where we dominated as the top PvP guild. Our PvE prowess was undeniable, necessitating multiple 40-man raids due to our efficiency.

Our aggressive tactics didn't stop there. We were notorious for raiding the Alliance's main city, crippling the server with our relentless assaults. We took particular joy in ruining the days of gold farmers by taking over their territories and relentlessly defeating them for hours on end. Our battles were epic, with fire and ice spells reigning down, creating a spectacle of chaos and destruction.

Over my 30+ years in MMOs, I've been part of many other guilds, each with its own set of fierce battles and memorable victories.

As we've grown older, the time for MMOs has dwindled. Nowadays, we seasoned gamers find our thrill in bringing the tears to younger players in FPS games. It's a different battlefield, but the satisfaction of victory remains just as sweet as those tears.
