I'm over 40 and have played a staggering number of games over the course of my entire life on practically every type of home computer and console ever made, from "Mazogs" on the ZX81 to "Playroom" on PSVR, and I can say without any shadow of a doubt that Terraria is easily in the top 10, maybe top 5, best games I've ever played.

Obviously it's not going to be everyones cup of tea but it has literally everything most gamers could want; melee fighting, shooting, magic, exploring, crafting, building, awesome loot, secrets and surprises (OMG secrets and surprises), rich single player experience, multiplayer, masses of variation of enemy and object types, huge longevity of gameplay, achievements, and it has a robust and straightforward UI and control system that is easy to pick up yet still incredibly rewarding if mastered further.

There is so much packed into Terraria that I'm still playing it 1083 hours in and can foresee myself doing so for many hours more.
