What can I say? It's Quake, "The Most Important PC Game Ever™".

The new Bethesda PC port is pretty good and a solid way to play it if it's your first time. The community add-ons are all old, essential mod/map packs that are all pretty fun too. "It just works" co-op/deathmatch is a nice bonus too, though it requires a Bethesda account...

Some mods only run in modern community sourceports, though, so if you want to try something like Arcane Dimensions (which you definitely should, by the way), I would recommend Quakespasm or Ironwail - the files you need to run the game in those are included in your Steam install of Quake.
