it's okay. definitely not the best dragon age, but not nearly as bad as doomers make it out to be.

pros:
- the combat is extremely fun, which is like... 90% of the game, so that's good. i loved running around as a mage and slamming my staff into the ground to do an aoe attack.
- manfred
- assan
- i genuinely found parts of the story interesting and cool, and a great addition to the dragon age lore. especially the ending, i think the ending is very nice
- your companions. i really do like all of the companions. yes, even taash, even after all the bad media surrounding them, i grew to like them. i'm going with all the bad press about them being a whiny teenage is purely people complaining about their own decisions they made for them. taash grew to love themselves and others, and even respect their mom in my playthrough. how about try being nice?

cons:
- the voice acting. i won't lie, there are some spots it's pretty horrible... i don't think it's on the voice actors though, but the directions and lines they were given. the voices themselves are great, it's what they say that ruins it.
- the romance is basically non existent... it feels very much like an after thought. i mean, at least davrin acknowledges that we're a thing...
- they went so woke they're now far right. i saw a great quote that i think perfectly describes this game, "this game allows you to be everything but a woman." sure the options are there, but as someone who is curvy, these newly woke games completely disregard my existence. the went so far left they circled back to being far right. while i did think my rook was pretty, i couldn't help but feel she looked more like a twink and less like the heroine i wanted her to be.
- why does this game not acknowledge the companions i have with me in cutscenes? there are probably less than 10 cutscenes in this game where your companions are actually shown. unless it's their companion quest, the game sees them as wasted space. no more witty banter from the people i take with me, i even tried picking people where it fit thematically and still nothing. this is the first dragon age game to nearly completely disregard your companions.

final thoughts: don't listen to doomer media. i watched a few videos and read a few article while playing the game, and it made me extremely apprehensive to continue. however, i did, and i came to find out that a lot of those videos and articles are people complaining about their own choices that they willingly made. at the end of the day, it's an rpg, so make the choices that you'll be happy with. idk why you would go out of your way to make a stupid decision and then complain online about your own horrible choices.
just try it out. or watch a video from a non biased source. remember, there's money to be made from hatred just like there is for propaganda.

i've played this game in both closed and open beta, and while i really wish i could love the game, i just can't with so many issues that have plagued it since before i quit. i tried playing again today to see if it was any better, no luck.

to start:
1) ores: ores are server side, so if you break an ore that ore is yours for the taking unless someone else has tapped it. this is horrendously awful for "late game" palium, which yes has a "better" spawn rate but now just has people basically acting as bots and camping their spawns, or literal bots. not to mention how much palium is needed to craft "late game" furniture and tools. my solution would be to have ores only be player side; if you see an ore, it's yours to tap and nobody else's.
-
2) flow tree: these have got to stop spawning in out of bounds areas. either singularity 6 does not care, or they don't know how to fix it. and given how they have handled some things, i'd go with the former.
-
3) outfits: this is just pure whale fuel. there are absolutely no free outfits, not even from doing something outstanding or reaching some max level. you get what you get, and that's it, unless you want to pay.
-
4) 1 character per account: why?
-
5) permanent appearance: at this time there is currently no way to change how your character looks, so if you get tired of having green eyes, well sucks to suck. or if you want to be a different gender, too bad. same goes for your name, so you're stuck as xXPu55yDeViLXx if that's what you choose at the beginning.
-
6) limited activities: i understand it's not a pvp game, but there is literally nothing in the game that supports community bonding. which doesn't help that there is a pretty vocally large group of people that are just extremely toxic in this "comfy cozy" mmo.
-
7) lying devs: why are they not telling you that this game is still not finished? or in early access? something? anything?
-
8) furniture: for a game basically built around furniture, you would think they would make sure that their preview images for the furniture you are essentially wasting materials to make would look accurate, right? right? no. they have taken the "artistic liberty" to have drawn previews of all the furniture in the game, and some of the images just straight up lie to you on what the thing you have wasted time gathering for will look like. either they have added things to the image that are not on the 3d model, or it just doesn't come in that color palette at all.
-
this game has a great vision, but with a steadily growing toxic community, horrible changes to resources, and a company that feels like it's just cashing in on the comfy craze, i can't recommend this game at all.
come back in a year, or whenever they decide the game is done. paralives will probably be out before that.

you will never play a good game until you play the pre-xbone halo games.
