An extremely wholesome game about making friends and growing up (or not!). The game is bite sized and only takes a couple of hours to beat!

It's a fairly fun game that has a lot of room for improvement.

The game is divided into phases. A setup phase, a capture the flag phase, and a siege phase.

Setup is just kinda boring. It's the looting and gearing mechanics from Apex and Fortnite. You run around this massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map breaking crystals for currency and opening chests looking for higher level guns and shields. Imho this phase could just get deleted and it'd make the game better.

Capture the flag also takes place on the huge map. You get a sword that can break the shield on the enemy base and take it there. This phase feels pretty empty with only 3 people on each team, but just right with 5.

Siege is after one team manages to take the flag/sword thing to the other base. Here is where one team plants bombs and the other team has to defuse them a la Counter Strike and R6 Siege. This feels pretty good with 3 people per team and a bit too chaotic with 5 because while the map between the bases is huge, the bases themselves are fairly compact.

A bite-sized little gunplay experience. The students who made this definitely show promise!

I put off playing this game for almost 9 years, for some reason. I was always interested in it, but it was never very high on my backlog's priority list. I booted it up on a whim yesterday and 3 hours later I'm wondering what was wrong with me. This was a short and incredible experience

Decently engaging walking sim with a neat retro sci fi aesthetic. The voice acting is good, which is important for a narrative experience like this (Note: I played in English). There are various player choices that influence the course of events and there are several endings to pursue if you want to see them all.

Minor spoiler:
I felt the endings were a bit unsatisfying. A bit too open ended. This was made a bit better by the fact that this game is a prequel to the book of the same name by Stanisław Lem. The open-ness of the endings makes sense through that lense because the game needs to leave plenty of space for the book to happen, but it still is a point against the game for not feeling like a complete story in itself.

Easily one of the best games I've played this year. Definitely the best one I played that actually released in 2024. Tight combat, interesting abilities, and excellent art and music.

It is a difficult game that expects you to memorize enemy attack patterns. There is very little to customize difficulty, however respecing is free and easy so you can tailor your build to a specific encounter if you need to.

I don't buy into the idea that making a game easier for others somehow cheapens my own achievements and so I would like to see options to tune difficulty down so more of my friends and family can enjoy a game I love. Otherwise Black Myth Wukong is perfect.
