This is probably my favorite game of all time.

Note that time spent is not accurate. (I own and have played it on numerous platforms.)

Highly recommended. The ending was so SO SO satisfying. I don't want to say anything more about the story, but I will say that it's a fairly short game. 3 or so hours to play through it. I would hapily have played more, and may yet return to it! But I didn't know how long it was, and I stopped playing in the middle and came back to it later. I wish I'd just played it all in one sitting.

Disclaimer: Though I know and highly respect the developers of this game, I was happy to pay full price for a game that literally took them three years to create.

First of all, I am deeply humbled by the amount of content that is present here. Once you build the workshop, it becomes clear there are dozens if not hundreds of items to craft and build. It's also clear there are a ton of characters to unlock and places I haven't visited yet. I got sucked in and played "just one more day" for about an hour after I told myself it was time to get back to work.

I personally love that there are diverse and under-represented characters in this game. I can't really understand why anyone would find that a detractor. I'm am definitely looking forward to meeting more of those characters and finding out more about this alien world.

This game is fantastic and deserves more reviews and attention.

The gameplay is like a mashup of Threes! (or 2048) and 3D Tetris, so if you like both of those, then you really can't go wrong here. I do wish there were an endless mode with new blocks spawning in, but there are definitely enough puzzles here to keep me busy for at least a few more hours.

The music is haunting and beautiful.

I bought this in a bundle and was quite surprised by how great it is. Definitely worth the current $3 asking price.

I bought this because I'm a bit of a Tetris nut. (I own all 4 Tetris board games.) So if Tetris isn't your thing, you should probably move along. That said, I found this to be a surprisingly fun variant!

Now, 3D Tetris isn't anything new. I've played a lot of 3D tetris variants, written blog posts about them, even. But most of them follow the same pattern: endless pieces, score based, usually in a cube-like "well" of some kind. (One of the first 3D Tetris game swas called Welltris.) This game does a few things differently. For one thing, the shape of the landing area is different for each level. For another, level progression is not based on score, and the speed of the falling blocks doesn't seem to increase over time. Each level is some number of pieces long, (possibly 100 pieces each, I'm not sure). I haven't played enough to know whether the order of pieces is randomized, but I think it is, because in later levels there is "garbage" on the board when you start, and after getting a simply abysmal score once, I re-played a level and was surprised to discover that the garbage placement seemed different.

Incidentally, the way the score works is also interesting. When you completely fill any level of the gameboard with blocks, they will be swept off the board, falling to the floor below. If you ever "miss" the floor of the gameboard with a block (or even part of a block) the piece will fall below, but turn black (indicating that it will count against you at the end of the level). When all the pieces run out, any blocks remaining above the first level on the gameboard also turn black. Your score then seems to be based on the % of the blocks that you have that are are either black or white.

If you like the spacial reasoning that Tetris and Tetris-like games usually require, you'll probably also like this game. The graphics are nothing special, but they work fine, and if I had any major complaint, it would be that I had to plug my Xbox controller in to play this game. (Since I have a Vive, I'd much rather use my Vive controllers, which might take some creativity on the part of the devs, but I have confidence they could figure out something that doesn't seem terrible.

One more thing: One of my favorite things about this variant is the way the blocks rotate. They did a great job of essentially always staying in the middle of the column while rotating, so by the time the block nears the bottom (and exact x and z coordinates are important), I almost always know where the piece will land. This took a few levels for me to realize, but it's a nice touch.

BLARP! may very well be my favorite VR game to date. It's a simple skill-based physics game, and it's got really excellent sound and graphics. I play it for a few minutes almost every time I put on my Vive headset.

There are few things that would improve the experience, and at the risk of nitpicking, I will list the ones I wish for here:
- An indication of the last game's score. (Right now, I believe that the only thing shown is a single "highest score".
- A public leaderboard of some kind. (I've no doubt that my meager high score of 27 will not fare well against the masses, but even better would just be listing friend scores.)
- Perhaps a second audio track. I LOVE the existing one, and the way it intensifies over time, but it can get a bit repetitive.

These are certainly not required changes for enjoyment of the game. A lot of people have mentioned the price, and how it compares to other games. I appreciate that it's an easy game to recommend given it's only a few bucks, but I'd much rather give the developer another $10 and maybe get a few more game modes or something. (More content of this quality, please!!!)

Early Access Review
I was hopelessly addicted to this game before it was on steam... it's taking all my will not to play it right now.
