This game is the game of all games to have ever gamed. It's going to reign as the GOAT for a pretty long time, and even longer once the DLC is out. If you haven't tried it, that's pretty insane, almost as insane as Vyke the Dragonspear.

Hunt Showdown:

PLOT/BACKDROP 4/5
As with most Battle Royale games, Hunt Showdown does not have any discernible plot to speak of, however the setting is rather immaculate and give the player the ability to explore slightly more dated times and handle weapons with a rustic feel. The map is limited to only one for now, but it is quite big and the environment is great to look at.

CONTROLS 3/5
The handling on the player is sometimes wonky and does not really allow for agile gameplay. Notably, there is a lack of peek/proning positions but overall the combat seems to still be quite smooth. Certain quality-of-life tweaks are needed and the UI is only semi-intuitive and quite buggy.

GAMEPLAY 5/5
This is where I feel the game tends to shine, as it brings a new perspective onto the BR games that have been joining the market since the past couple of years. It's hunt, then be hunted, as you race through the swamplands or sneak by key installations to get the drop on your fellow players. The pace is intense and truly exciting. Only problem is you can only play with one other friend at the moment.

BALANCE 3/5
Still a bit of tweaking to be had in this aspect, I wish certain objects couldn't be abused, like ladders etc. Certain enemy AI also creates for quite buggy scenarios, sometimes you are seen from way too far, sometimes you're right in front but don't get spotted. Suffice to say there is much still to be done for the game, but then again, it's alpha.

CONCLUSION 3.75/5
Still a pretty solid game, and great to play with your friend(s). The latency issue is getting better and I can see more and more players coming in. With a bit of optimism this could become a really great game. Stay tuned!

Bought the game.

Thought it was an arboretum simulator.

1,000 hours into the game, I haven't planted a single seed.

10/10 would Bob Ross again
