Very upset I have to give this game a thumbs down. I've been waiting for this game for 5 or 6 years and Darksiders II is one of my favorite games ever. This... just doesn't match up. They tried to turn it into a sort of DMC/Dark Souls(hate to say, but it's actually true this time) kind of thing. When I first loaded in and messed around with the weapon it seemed amazingly fun, but the actual combat itself suffers from a bunch of somewhat small things that all add up to create a frustrating experience. It lost all of the fluid feel that II pulled off beautifully. I know I had a short play time but it was just too heartbreaking to go on.

+Very fun weapon (her whip)
+Fury looks really cool
+Whip swinging is kind of fun

-Dodging works horribly. It doesn't cancel animations so if you're fighting more than one enemy you're screwed
-Enemies gang up on you outside of the camera view
-Smallest enemies chunk you enough to force you to heal constantly
-Platforming is just horrible, feels very clunky
-Double jump is useless, adds maybe 6 inches to your jump
-Can't pull off whip combos reliably because you're so slow compared to the gang of enemies swarning you
-Overall quality of the game is a slightly prettier but less polished version of the first
-World just feels empty and linear. I was constantly aware I was in a "video game world"

I'm not sure any amount of future QoL patches are going to fix this game for me, there's just so much that wasn't accomplished. Maybe I'll grab it on a big sale just to hear the story but this is one of the very few games I've ever refunded because it wasnot worth the $70 I spent. This was also the only game I've preordered in years because I thought I could trust it to be amazing, but it just isn't. I'm sorry, THQNordic.
