7 years after this game was released - is it still worth playing?
The answer is a resounding... YES!

There are some experiences in life that can tell you more about yourself. L4D2 has been one of those experiences.

From the outside, this is just a zombie game (BRAAAAIINSSS!) with hilarious characters and overpowered weapons.

But it is so much more. It teaches you the value of sticking together as a team, of putting others ahead of yourself, of facing your fears, efficiently using your available resources and pacing yourself to the finish.
It invites you to become a more skilled shooter, a more patient gamer and empathize with your teammates for your own good.
Timing is another key to victory - whether that be the timing of your attacks as an infected or the timing of your m2 against one.

A note about the online L4D2 community:
Yes, there are lots of people who take this game very seriously and hate losing/ love winning. As a new player, if you end up playing with some of these people, you are likely to get kicked out of the server. This is unfortunate, but it's true.
To these 'pros', I say that sometimes it is wise to put yourself in the shoes of the new players - after all, we were all noobs once. You might win a game by kicking someone, but if you decide to teach them instead, you might help the community gain a new capable player for many more fun games.

That said, I've met many wonderful people in this community. Almost all my Steam friends have come from L4D2, and for good reason.

TL;DR:
In this game, you will dread some moments, you will laugh out loud, you will feel accomplished in victory and disappointment in defeat. This is a ride that never ends.
