A fresh exploration game with roguelike elements from an innovative designer who's worked across many genres, and their experience shows! The gameplay and art is very polished.

The physical inventory is a novel mechanic and rarely seen in roguelikes.
The pace of the game is quite chill, I'm about a third through the game and it's been pretty relaxing. So far the biggest threat to me is myself, via bombs. Still getting the hang of not self-immolating. The tetheting system is very elegant in just using the mouse, with the downside of needing a bit of practise and precision to use some items compared to having hotkeys. Thankfully most items are pretty forgiving in their use and availability so you do get lots of practise!

The game itself is a sequence of levels that are procedurally generated, each with their own flavouring and optional challenges. There are occasional chests with upgrades like currency or adjusting a mechanic but this takes a backseat to buying upgrades at the shop, which is the main way of getting stronger in a level.

Enjoying it so far, finding little nods to other games and tropes. Interested to see what Luke makes next!

A CAUTIOUS recommendation.

This is a super charming and polished game that's almost ruined by the bait and switch endgame.
You're trying to make the most broken builds possible, then get punished you if your build is too broken. I finished the game in ~5hrs with a very overpowered team and have effectively bricked the game because now I need to fight that team AND the boss in one battle.

It's still worth playing for the clever game design and tactile art.

Edit: 7hrs and numerous runs later I've beaten game again.
I'm really not enjoying the game scaling with you at the end. Such a shame because the rest of the game was fun.

Stunning art, I'm really into the UI stylings and gritty illustration.
A very thematic and immersive game with flavourful writing.

Finished a few games now and starting to get the hang of it so thought I'd extend my review.

This game has some really compelling strategic moments and jawbiting scenarios. It's a great game to play with friends, though incredibly complex. It doesn't play like any game I've played before and you'll need to stick with it to unveil its true beauty, which I'm glad to start witnessing.

Amazing game.

Out of all the coop games I've bought to play with friends, this is the only one we've stuck with for multiple years.

The first 100-200hrs are pure suffering, but when you finally start internalising the audio cues and get comfortable with the weapons and movement it feels really rewarding.

Great game, really tight experience with some very smart design decisions.
All the systems and narrative are connected and executed very well. Compelling while not being too heavy handed, with plenty of little interactions to discover.

Got the endings, completed almost all quests and most unlocks in ~10hrs, though probably missed some easter eggs.

Chill game, pretty relaxing. Interesting premise with all NPC's having their own timelines and you either participating directly or as a fly on the wall.

Great game, excellent theming and vibe to the world.
Haven't even tried half the characters yet, but just got my first win with Pathfinder and it seems there's still a ton of content to unlock.

A lot of roguelites gate content with grinding instead of skill, so I'm pleased to see this can be completed just playing normally. Haven't felt the need to go and farm enemies so far, which I'm hugely appreciative of.

Played the demo and it's a pleasure to be exploring the full game.
Loving with the tone and vibe of the world. Beautiful, dark and surreal.

Update: The more I play the more I love this game. It took me a little while to get used to the absorb mechanic, but definitely worth sticking with the game.
It's very difficult but rewarding and the world building is great. Really cool lore.

So much personality. If you want a fresh metroidvania experience get this game!

A truly amazing game. The attention to detail is incredible.
Awesome fun, plays like an interactive movie where each scene has a different game mechanic. Cinematic, dynamic and at times also very funny.

Much longer than expected and wrapped up well. Highly recommend.

Early Access Review
Fast paced, smooth gameplay makes it a pleasure to play, with enough of a twist on the standard deckbuilder format to feel fresh and immersive.

Has the bones of some interesting systems and unlockables to work through, look forward to seeing more areas get added.
