So bad it gave me the laugh of a lifetime. It's just... so tragically bad it's funny.

My new arcade favorite

First of all I bought this game at the summer sale for 1,39€. I don't think I would buy it if I had to pay over 5€, but let's get into it.

The download took about two minutes, and I could enjoy the game right away. I picked up my Xbox 360 controller and sat down after I had a quick coffee.

I was met with the most flashing and colourful startup screen ever, and even the menus were pretty intence. This game is not for people with epilepsy, so don't even try it if you think you have it. Now the menus and settings was pretty easy to navigate, as you would expect from an arcade shooter.

The music

The game came with a lot of music, but it clarely wasn't my taste, so you probably have to download some yourself. It can be hard if you don't have much technical knowledge though, as you have to browse your folders and find your music manually.

Anyways, I bought the Mega Bundle, so I could play m4a files from my iTunes folders. But you can actually just convert your iTunes music to the mp3 format to play them, so the DLC s pretty useless. I did miss a Soundcloud implementation though, it was pretty good in Audiosurf 2.

The game

So I selected 'Wake Me Up' by Avicii, and gave it a go. The start was very similar to the good old Atari game, Astroids. Big astroids came flying by and became smaller pieces upon destruction, as you would expect. But after some time, the game became something pretty different.

Lots of spaceships attacked my ship and performed the old art of kamikaze. Most ships doesn't shoot projectiles, but they try to destroy my ship in many different ways. Some ships gather around me and try to squash me, some try to pull me like a vacuum cleaner and there is even a ship that will try to choak me like a king cobra. So there is obviously a big variety of enemies.

The best part was probably how the game adopted to different songs. I could play almost any song I wanted and the gameplay would still be awesome.

Fun and addictive gameplay

Cool colours and graphic effects

Many levels, unlocks and achievements

Local and online cross-platform co op

No bugs/glitches (after my experience)

Pros:

No Soundcloud implementation

Too fast to level up at the start

A little too pricey for an arcade shooter

Useless iTunes & m4a file support DLC
