If you've ever played the old Harvest Moon games, this is very much like that. The difference is really that in those games there was a definite cut off point. Reach YearXX and that was it, good bad or indifferent. If you wanted to play beyond that point, you basically played on an excruciating difficulty level from there on. In Stardew Valley, the play through is much more relaxed and lenient on the more casual player. Want to play beyond the basic time frame? No big. It just keeps rolling along for as long as you'll let it basically.
My only dislike of this game really is the lack of a save beyond when you go to bed. If you're in the middle of a day, and need to close the game, oh well. You'll be started up again at that last morning. So any work you accomplished between when you got up and had to leave the game is wiped. But that can be avoided by simply Really planning everything to the Nth degree. lol
Other than that, I love the game. It's ingrosing and relaxing. The music is calm and while it'll never be the old scores of the Final Fantasy series, it does remind one of the old Mana series quite a bit. The graphics too are very like the old Mana series as well. Sharp, crisp yet pleasing to look at and easy on the eyes.

All in all, it's a nice fun little game and I look forward to seeing more from the dev that made it.
