Main story is well written, intriguing enough to make you want to continue, but in some aspects it deserves more length and depth, especially the side quests related to the four student friends. Only the quests for Sebastian and Poppy are particularly well-crafted, on the other hand, the quest for Natsai is a bit left out sync with the other quests and is not really engaging as the other 2, also the quest regarding Amit is kind of useless as it only affect 1 story quest and doesn't really continue after that.
As for the combat, everything is very well thought out: using spells in the 4x4 spell wheel is especially ergonomic, allowing you to switch between the 16 spells that can be included in the wheel quite easily, the whole point is to find the best combination possible to make your life easier. Combos and effects on enemies are also well thought out, in line with the effects of spells described in novels or films. Other spells are also available in specific contexts, making the game even more cohesive and exciting.
4/5 just because it feels like the game is short, yes you can explore and do all the collectables and Merlin trials, but it feels like the main story and side quests fall a little bit short for a game prices at $80, it only took me around 30 hours to be done with main story and another 15 to clean up any unfinished side story quests.
