With Anti-hero protagonist in a Neo-Noir setting, the game story stuffed with elements such as drug inducing hallucinations, conspiracy theory, purgation of emotion in violence behaviors like killing ppl, which Immediately remind me of Hotline Miami series. They might be a bit different in aesthetic design but the overall style feel very similar to me instinctively. The gameplay of Kanata ZERO is very straight forward yet fast paced, demonstrate punishing game mechanics where you will get one hitted by enemy in most scenario(unless you get bashed, but stun also results in a guarantee death most of the time). It might be a bit bland and repetitive to play after a while compare to some other top platformer such as The Hollow Knight, but smart level design mitigates some of that.
For my personal taste, I would say Kanata ZERO is a very solid game 8.5/10 overall.
