It is hard to put into words exactly what makes Yakuza Like a Dragon so great, but I think I'd say this game has a lot of heart and a lot of passion behind it. The love for classic JRPGs and the love for the highly detailed cities the Yakuza games are known for are completely shown off in this game. The main characters are great fun, their backstories and character arcs in the game are well written, the sheer amount of content to do will leave you stunned as you continuously find more and more to dig into Isezaki Ijincho. The main story has the usual Yakuza twists and turns, with a lot of main players and acts to go through. The acting and animation brings out a lot of emotions, and this did definitely leave me teary eyed. I cannot recommend this game enough, especially if you are a fan of classic JRPGs or the Yakuza series. The departure from the beat em up gameplay may leave some wanting, but I believe the implementation of turn based combat is done extremely well in both keeping the Yakuza feel of street brawling and invoking the strategy and character building of Dragon Quest. There are some strange interactions with button prompts and running through the city, but the pace of the game and how well the game executes its content makes it easy to overlook the strange hiccups.
