Expect a really immersive game that will get continued support (in the form of content updates, etc) from the developers. I didn't buy this game during the steam summer sale but noticed the attention it was getting after release, so I bought the game for full price and have no regrets. If you've been deprived of a great RPG the past couple years, then this is about as good as it gets.
