Stay Away, the game is dead, and honestly after the way things went, it deserves to be.

The UI update is horrible! It's a nightmare to use, and makes everyhing so arduous.

The units that were pushed out were so buggy, that they were actually just broken, including broken animations and abilities that just didn't work. It was obvious within 5 minutes that no play testing was done and that White Moon Dreams was just trying to wash their hands of this game as soon as possible

The already struggling multiplayer ground to a halt with these bugs and they even broke the custom match feature.

Asynchronous play, a Kickstarter goal has never materialised, a whole KS campaign: Fire and Ice never materialised.

They've now shut the game forums down.

I could go on, but really I really can't be bothered typing anymore.

If it's not clear already: STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOG OF A GAME!

Orignal review from 2015:

This game was released too early - this is the charge that most people level against this game, and they are right, I don't think anyone would really disagree. It was incomplete, buggy and not very well optimised. The majority of the negative reviews seem to focus on this.

However - I would say it has come on in leaps and bounds since then.

I backed the Kickstarter though I hadn't heard of Warmachine, let alone played the table top game, I like turn-based games and liked the sound of the theme. When I first got access to it, all the points I touched on in my first paragraph left me frustrated, So I stopped playing it for a while, now though coming back to it, I've found it so much more enjoyable.

WhiteMoonDreams have added a ton of content and have been releasing fixes and updates on a regular basis.

The focus of the game, and subsequently the development, is on the Multiplayer which means that the Campaign is still lacking -The AI is basic and doesn't offer much of a challenge (this is slated for improvement in the future). The same can be said for Skirmish - however it's a good place to test out a list or a new tactic, albeit whihtout a sensible response from the opponent, before trying it in Multiplayer. My point here is that if you are more interested in the Campaign than the Multiplayer, you'll be disappointed.

A Multiplayer (with limited unit selection) demo has just been released - it allows play against existing players as well as other demo users. I'd suggest giving it a try.

The next feature that I am most waiting for is asynchronous play - being able to take a turn at a time when I can fit in 10 minutes without necessarily having to be online at the same time as my opponent will be great for me. By that time I also expect lots more fixes and improvements. I'll probably come back to this review at that point and give some more thoughts.
