Wolfenstein II: The Freedom Chronicles - Season Pass offers 3 new campaigns and a decent enough excuse to slay some more nazis.

I will review this as a whole package here. I have also reviewed each episode separately and will provide links along the way.

Each episodes focuses on a different protagonist and they have access to one of BJ's body upgrades from the main campaign. They do not introduce any new mechanics nor do they give you new weapons to use or new enemy types to fight. None of the episodes feature cutscenes either, only narrated images, which is unfortunate.

Episode 1 has you play as an American football player; it focuses on combat and makes you use the ram shackles. While the story is not very interesting, being your basic revenge tale, I did appreciate the overall cheesiness of the storytelling, as it reminded me of Saturday morning cartoons. The shooting is just like in the base game. I reviewed Episode 1 here.

You play as a British spy in Episode 2. It focuses on stealth, making you way squishier, disabling the ability to dual-wield weapons and allowing you to crawl through small spaces (like using the constrictor harness). Another revenge tale, but featuring a way more interesting character. Stealth is not exactly deep but it makes you feel like a boss. It is also a lot of fun to replay and it is the easiest episode to complete. Combat is barely and option, considering you die easily. I reviewed Episode 2 here.

Episode 3 puts you in the shoes of a World War II veteran. It is a mix of combat and stealth. While these are fine on their own, this episode also focuses on the least interesting and most poorly implement body upgrade from the base game - the stilts. They are only used to get to another area - you cannot use them (reliably, of course) during combat, as you are an easy target and you get spotted more easily while using them in stealth. It does not give you any sort of advantage. It also does not help that the story is very generic and lacks any of the charm from previous episodes. I reviewed Episode 3 here.

So basically, this Season Pass is a mixed bag. You get 3 campaigns of varying quality and, even though they are never truly amazing or terrible, they feel phoned in. I enjoyed the first two episodes but I disliked the last one. I really loved Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus so I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to extra content that gives me an excuse to go back to it. Even though this is definitely not worth full price, I can still recommend it to fans of the base game when purchased on a sale. Just expect an average, short and, for the most part, forgettable piece of DLC that gives you some more achievements to complete and Nazis to shoot.

Final score: 6 out of 10.
