MAFIA: A MATERPIECE, 9 OUT OF 10

Gameplay: Reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto Five, the standouts for me are the graphics (lighting and city detail are phenomenal), and the AMAZING story.

Fun Factor & Replay Value: Combat is fine enough, and the story missions keeps things fresh with the different variety that's there. There's a collectible system for achievement hunters, but I didn't care enough to find all the magazines or the cars. Once I finished the story, that was enough for me.

Final Thoughts: Mafia has one of the best story campaigns I've experienced. I never played the original, but this game can stand on its own feet. The voice acting, graphics, and solid gameplay were enough to carry me through the 16 hour+ campaign. I genuinely cared for the characters, which made some of the twists even more gut wrenching, I truly felt like I was partaking in my own Godfather movie, and for that I can't recommend it enough. Story enthusiasts shouldn't hesitate to buy. If you're more of a gameplay nut, the gameplay loop here is solid, but the real gem here is the excellent campaign, so put your narrative hat on and enjoy the ride. I felt like I got my money's worth (I paid $39.99), so you should too, it's a definite buy if found on sale. Take care!
