Fun game using the Quake engine with bizarre levels and visuals. It really takes you to a certain place in your head, and gives me a certain feeling I would get back when I first started making levels. Speaking of which, you can really see how the levels improve in quality and craziness as you progress.

This game runs great on Steam Deck too so you can play it anywhere you want. Controls worked right away and I didn't even have to use proton, so it must be using a Linux native build. Steam should mark this game as verified or playable.

good graphics, good controls, good for new and vet fighting game players. every move, right down to the normal punches, are references from the show/manga. singleplayer is mid but it's something to do at least, plus there are offline challenges/ladders, all of which give you ingame currency that can be used online for skins and power-ups for the monthly co-op mode.

easily #1 fighting game, will not elaborate further. 1k hours and i still suck but i play because it's so much fun.

This is how remasters should be done. Upgraded textures with the ability to use the old ones, improved controls, and restored content (like entire levels, boss fights, and music) that they couldn't fit in the original game for one reason or another.

This game has been tons of fun. Love the minigame spin on upgrading your skills. Very satisfying weapons and graphics, looks really pretty when the pixel art style meets the UE4 graphic effects. A solo developer with Andrew Hulschult on the track.. Can't go wrong with Andrew Hulschult.

Changing my review to positive because they deserve it.

When this game was re-released on Steam, it was missing a lot of things that vets would be expecting to see there, like the perks in quest mode and the functionality of perks in survival mode. Some were removed entirely. The developer has added perks back into quest mode with their original functionalities. You can also opt into the beta client to test out other new perks before they make it into the final build. The UI and HUD still feels like a mobile game but whatever.

I don't know what made them think those changes would be improvements in the first place, but I'm glad that they listened to community feedback and changed things back to how they use to be. If you somehow are still not happy with the new graphics and all that with the original gameplay, you can also play the original Crimsonland that's included in this purchase.

A change to a negative review for this game is long overdue.

This game was freakin' awesome, I loved it. You transformed into monsters to kill your opponents in an Arena FPS fashion and the theme was great, even though most of the music and sound were royalty free which you can find online.

But unfortunately, the developers were aiming solely to become some giant eSport and were so worried of, I quote "being like any other arena FPS" that they never listened to their community - except for literally like 2-4 people who moaned about any change that came with a patch, and would get reverted instantly, effectively making some patches a waste of bandwidth. There was only one game mode, which was a duel where whoever dies first loses but you could also play in the "warmup" lobby, where it's just DM with no score limit and a 10 minute time limit which you could not change.

To make it worse, the master server for this game went down within weeks after launch and the developers still haven't done anything about it, and this was released November of 2014. The servers have literally been down for over a year. When the servers were up, you could only host a dedicated server by emailing your info to the developers to allow your server to even be seen on their master server and you couldn't create a listen or LAN server.

It isn't like the developers are too busy with their lives/not on steam much or anything because the game isn't going on sale all the time all by itself and their Steam account shows that they've been playing other games. Either way it's bad practice. They're blatantly ignoring their forums, not even letting people know if they're really done with the game or not but obviously they are. There's literally no point in buying this game because you can't even play it, unless you consider having bots that literally don't miss a single shot even if just a pixel of you is visible as playing. Oh well, I had fun exploiting console commands to spawn Unreal Tournament 3 guns and powerups in online servers while it lasted. Oh yeah and there's that.
