My friends often ask me why can't I just shut up about that one game nobody plays.

NieR is and always will be, for me, the best game of the generation and you can never take that away from me. NieR was originally released back in 2010 to lukewarm reviews. It is to be expected, the combat wasn't fleshed out enough, the graphics looks like dirt, the side quests sometimes/most of the times are an absolute choir. But it does have something many games, even the most recent titles lack: heart.

A few years ago, I could never imagine we would see NieR ever again and feared that its legacy would be lost in the dust of time. But NieR: Automata happened. It breathed life back to me and nurtured the wild thoughts of a modern NieR. Then Square Enix makes that wild thought of mine into reality.

NieR Replicant is a beautiful, albeit heartbreaking at times. It's flooded with creativity, humor and love. I dare say I owed a lot to NieR, it is just that good. As the game pulled you through its mystery, endings after endings, you will slowly but surely, realize that there is something else beneath this silly little game.

Is this the "perfect" video game? Hell no. But the aspects the game "nails" - its narrative, its characters, its acting, its music, its writing - sets the bar so high that hardly anything could ever come close. Needless to say, it quickly found a place in my heart, a special one at that.

I can never thank everyone who work on this game enough. I know Square Enix have their problems but still, I thank them, because without Square Enix NieR would never have a second chance.

Trust me and play this game, because nothing is as it seems.
