Not a good game IMO. Perhaps not helped by steam recommending this as a 'detective' game.

Pros
- The game has a good style art wise. It's visually appealing. It gives me a Claire Obscure kind of vibe, which I really like.
- The environment is well animated, giving it a good feeling to explore. Although there are some invisible walls which I'm not keen of, overall I'd still say it's good.

Cons
- The dialogue, right off the bat, is awful. Almost 0 emotion. I will say the main characters and those relevant to the plot are slightly better than the non important npcs, but it just doesn't hold up to a good standard. On top of that, the animations for when you're engaged in dialogue are non existent. So it feels like you're constantly engaging with robots/AI. When a game provides good visuals but a terrible dialogue experience, the visuals start to not matter and it ruins the experience as a whole.
- As I mentioned, steam recommends this as a 'detective' game. For me, a detective game requires you to use though/deduction in order to find clues, and draw a conclusion, and give you a feeling of satisfaction when you succeed. In The Thaumaturge, all clues are found by spamming the perception button with no effort. It doesn't require any thought at all. Just walk around and spam a button. The conclusion is then drawn for you. No thanks.
- I wasn't aware combat was a part of the game, which normally isn't a game mechanic that would turn me away. However what I saw was not good. Very stale system. Soulless like a lot of other games aspects.

Overall, 3/10. I think there was an attempt to make something a bit different, but it's all just a bit too simple for me. Refunded within 20 mins.
