A review for the folks who are scrolling thru a sea of bad reviews saying the same thing as if it were copy and pasted, with maybe 4 hours of game-play on record:

This is a good game. A very fun, solid game. With gorgeous visuals, complex combat and interesting characters. The story is dark, old lore is referenced for the og fans. Keep reading for a little more detail but I wont ramble on about it because the negative reviews already have wayyyyy too much text without really saying anything at all.

I've waited so incredibly long for this game, with Dragon Age Inquisition being one of my most played games EVER. I loved every minute of this game. Not being open world was my only disappointment but you can go back and explore areas you've been to and unlock new areas outside of main story quests. The lore was just as in depth as it always was if you read the notes left in each area and take different companions with you as you travel. Certain areas require some puzzle solving or specific skills only accessible by certain party members. It's worth exploring if you want to find rare weapons and immerse yourself even more in the lore.

The visuals are amazing. The story was dark and made sense for the build up we saw in DAI. The combat IS challenging if you want it to be. Your companions have their own skill sets and combination moves. There are weapon and armor upgrades and enchantments. I feel that anyone who found the combat "boring" just didn't explore the mechanics enough and maybe needed to increase their difficulty. I played on the highest difficulty and it was insanely hard! But also SO fun! Truly the combat was probably my favorite thing about this game, and I'm typically someone who prefers story mode over high difficulty.

I keep hearing people say the dialogue is boring as well and I don't believe this to be true. The dialogue felt the same as every other installment in this series - a little campy and very much un-serious. You can choose to play as another snarky mc, as many of us do. The voice acting was also incredible so I just fail to see where this claim is coming from.

Sure this game inst everyone's cup of tea. But before you believe all the negative reviews that jumped on the hate hype train, give it a try. AND go into it with an open mind. Half these reviews even admit to going into it with a negative mindset, so it's no surprise they didn't like it. I hope they give it another chance once the hate wave settles.
(I played as a clueless dagger wielding mage assassin who just wants to hang out and pet the [/griffin]. It was worth the wait!)

This was one of my favorite games released (in early access) of 2024. This game is something I haven't seen in the cozy space, and it's a welcome addition!

You are the chef but also so much more than that. Your ingredients, your menu, your staff, your decor, your cooking quality - all of this is up to you. You can run a bar, a bakery, a tea shop, a seafood restaurant. You can farm, set up supply chains or forage and hunt. From a role playing standpoint, the amount of choices you have and the way you can experiment with your restaurant was so much fun! The cooking mini-games were challenging too and I LOVED that. The steamer?? Took me a while to get to 100 on a few of the recipes but the difficulties of the different cooking appliances and recipes were well balanced and enjoyable! I immediately thought, "I want to run a dive bar" and the brewing process in the game was complex and challenging but in the end so rewarding when I got my menu and decor set up exactly how I wanted.

The story progression is a little slow, but I have yet to see this as a bad thing. This just means you have more time to get to know the map and the NPCs and figure out your play style before getting thrown into quests or new areas. Your character's backstory is also a very nice touch! I'm excited to see that story progress in future updates too. The little cutscenes you get as the story progresses or when you take someone on a date are also very fun. The artwork itself is just something I have never seen before and at first I wasn't sure how I would like it but the style fits the game so well.

AND THE SOUNDTRACK - its just so good honestly I could listen to it forever.

A few things I would love to see in future updates:
- Season specific forage items
- And indicator of the quality of the dishes the employees are serving (maybe a number above their head showing the dish quality as they finish a recipe so I can decide if they are hurting or helping my scores)
- More seeds for farming, or maybe even a seed vendor
- A wider variety of huntable animals
- The ability to make a dish when your restaurant is closed - as I mentioned some of the cooking mini games are tough and I'd like to practice before I open my restaurant! Also I want to gift ppl the food i make :)
- Some android specific recipes (I know they can eat human food but I think it would be cool to have some obscure dishes for them specifically!)

All in all, it's an original experience and I definitely see the vision for the full game! On that same note, because it is early access I have found a couple of dialogue typos and little bugs here and there that I would gladly share if that would be helpful in this game's development! I have a feeling it may end up being my favorite cozy game once the full release is out, and I cant wait!

(I don't review a lot of games but I saw some negative reviews - which is fine not everyone has to like it - but I was like no wayyyyyy I need everyone to know this game is amazing! So here I am lo)

I have never written a review for a game. But I came here to say that not only is the game amazing, but the community is too. And in the Founders Hall, whoever #64 is, the fact i got to see a Crescent City quote in this amazing game genuinely made me tear up. I love this game so so so much. I absolutely read every single message on every single statue and I'm so glad I did. I cant wait for any further updates or games that Stairway Games puts out.
