Fun and varied- there's quite a few houses to do up and even when you're finished with them, you can go back to them and renovate in a completely different direction. Very free with how you can decorate and, with the new workshop compatibility, you basically out whatever you want into the houses.

Even before you get to be able to afford an actual house, the jobs you're asked to do ease you into the game mechanics very well.
