I think you're taking that script wrong, if that were law it would take all of the choice they so blissfully declared they had away. It seems to me like a playtester's playthrough, what they're choices would be, with some semblence as to take into account some major, MAJOR decisions. Decisions like leaving Ashley/Kaiden on Virmire. What your suggesting is that you are given the illusion of free choice when everything is chosen for you, as though they overtly chose what you will do with whom. Take for example your love interest, if it said in the script who it was than it only proves my postulate true, they wouldn't be that stupid as to change something like that.
