This game is leaps and bounds ahead of Payday 2, which was already a great game. If you even slightly enjoyed PD2, this is a must buy.

EDIT: Honestly, after a few dozen more hours, there are some pretty glaring issues with the combat. I'm sure it will get better if given support, but the problem is right now the developers don't seem interested in supporting or changing the game at all. I would keep playing PD2 until this changes.

My experience with Fallout 4 VR? Walking through walls.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8LTr3zRNrU

Fallout VR is probably one of the worst VR ports released so far. The performance is abysmal, the graphics are blurry, and everything feels clunky. Also yes, I am running the beta patch that is supposed to improve graphical performance and blurriness. It does, but it still leaves a lot to be desired, especially compared to other VR titles.

Performance aside, the game is clunky and poorly adapted into VR. It feels like the only lesson they took from other VR titles was to include a smooth movement option, but even that is riddled with issues. It's jerky, colliding with things through playspace movement is awkward, and most important of all it's extremely easy to walk through walls.

This I cannot stress enough. It is trivially easy to walk through absolulely any wall in the game. The moment I gained player control I was able to walk through the wall of my house, out into the streets, through two barbed wire fences, and off into the low-detail abyss. Once I attempted to run through the game normally, I accidentally bypassed a trigger that ended up soft-locking the game.

The lack of proper hand models is a big setback that I didn't expect. It's really surprising how much seeing two vive controllers takes you out of the experience. I feel like a robot, or worse, like I don't even really exist. This is only amplified by being able to walk through any wall, like a ghost. I was able to walk out of my cryo pod and stand next to the guy while he shot my wife.

Interacting with objects is really poorly implemented, as I mentioned before. The controls are awkward and not very responsive. Interacting with objects is strange and not well indicated, unless you turn on some really ugly and intrusive HUD elements. The choice of button mapping is unusual, to put it simply. Picking up objects doesn't perform like any other VR title, and is disappointingly unsatisfactory.

That being said, there are a lot of things the game does well. The menus work well and are very easy to navigate and read, the scale of the world and characters feels normal, and the graphics -- though they do not perform well -- look very nice. There is clearly a lot of potential here, but some fundamentals are clearly missing. Being able to walk through walls effortlessly might be appealing to a speedrunner, but to the average player it just feels like a broken game.

All in all I would ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND you spend $60 on this game. People would have the right to be upset if this was a $5 DLC. It's just poorly done, if you're a triple A studio and you can't bother to do it right, why do it at all. I can only hope that in the coming weeks (or more likely, months) some of these issues will be addressed, and that I'll be able to switch my review to positive.

Early Access Review
This game is fantastic. The developers are releasing almost constant updates that add to the complexity of the simulation, while still making the game simple and accessible -- perfect for room scale motion controls. When I bought this game, it was already so well produced and put together that I honestly expected it wouldn't be updated at all. It looked and played better than basically every fully released VR title to date and it was still in early access, and it already had fully functioning multiplayer. And now, the developers are still working to make the game bigger and better. This sets a golden standard for real VR games, and this developer deserves all of your support and attention.
