I want to preface this by saying that I don’t think this game is bad, I’m just very clearly not the target audience, I guess.

The beginning is fun, and the first 20 or so interactions can be genuinely entertaining. I also loved the character designs and the voice acting, but it quickly becomes boring at the same time that it somehow becomes incredibly overwhelming. I do love otome games and dating sims, so it’s not really a genre problem as much as a storytelling one, I guess. There are just so many characters that it’s almost impossible to actually form any meaningful attachment to them. You can’t really create a bond with 100 characters all at once, and I think that’s ultimately why it fell flat for me (that and some of them where just deeply unlikable I'm sorry).

I also don’t know how to put this nicely, but several times I found myself extremely uncomfortable lmao. (Btw, it’s really nice that they added an option to warn you about potentially uncomfortable scenarios, but it quickly became hilarious to me when I realized I was uncomfortable with like 90% of them. This game was genuinely NOT made for me 😭)

Idk, I really wanted to love it, but it ended up just being… okay. I guess it’s partially my fault for expecting some deep storytelling from a game literally called Date Everything! where you go around your house romancing as many sentient objects as you possibly can, but yeah... 😭

I can absolutely see why someone would love this. Unfortunately, that someone is not me.

the one problem with this game is that it expects me to finish it and then just go back to living my life normally afterwards like i didn’t just have a life-altering experience!!!?!?!?!

what do you mean i have to go back to my real 9-to-5 tomorrow and it’s NAWT going to be dispatching my dysfunctional team of heroes on errands around the city and getting to know them…. the void is all consuming and it’s calling my name…

A really fun game for the lovers of rpg and d&d related things! It truly feels just like a campaign! With that said, it can be overwhelming, I'm still discovering and learning mechanics tbh, plus the story is pretty slow burn and you do have to pay attention to get truly involved. BUT I loved it, specially how rich it was. The choices you made truly felt like they mattered and had actual consequences.

My favorite aspect of the entire game might have been the little bits of gameplay that was basically reading passages of a book and making a choice. It felt just like if the GM was narrating to you!!! Really fun concept and cool execution in my opinion!

I do wish it had more voice acting tho, the bits that were voice acted were so good but so scarce!

🟧 KINDA RECOMMENDED!

Ok, ok. Do I recommend this game? Sure, when it’s on sale. Do I think it’s a good game? Ehhh… that depends.

Truthfully, this would be a pretty cool game if it weren’t part of the Dragon Age franchise. If we’re being honest, aside from the character cameos and the title, this does not feel like Dragon Age at all! I think it’s completely fine to experiment and change things up, especially in the game industry, but this shift is so drastic that it feels VERY jarring. Even more so because this game is meant to be a continuation of Inquisition! And honestly, I think that’s where most of the disappointment comes from, and fans are absolutely allowed to feel that way. Specially when said game is from a big studio! And years in the making!

So, as a standalone game, this is quite fun. The graphics are beautiful, the character customization is great, and the combat mechanics are enjoyable. The story and dialogue are very fast-paced, which I DON’T like, and truly wish it was more polished, but overall it’s still entertaining.

As a continuation of the Dragon Age franchise, however, it is disappointing.

And that’s where my main issue with it lies. The game is visually stunning, but the story and characters — which are the two things that make Dragon Age so special — feels off, like they’re missing something. This is especially noticeable in the dialogue scenes between Rook and the companions. I’m not entirely sure what it is, but every interaction feels too fast, almost like a first draft that was meant to be revisited and expanded on later. Except it never was. As a result, everything feels incomplete and strangely hollow. Which is heartbreaking, because it really could have been SO good :(

Granted, I haven’t finished the game yet, so I genuinely don’t know if it gets better or worse. But for now, I feel pretty torn. I’m having fun exploring and fighting, and I love my 3-apples-tall Rook, but every now and then I feel a little sad, because I can clearly see the wasted potential right in front of me… and it breaks my heart.

When I finish it, I will come back and update the review!

UPDATE: Could not finish the game because my PC simply won't run it even on the lowest settings!

Extremely heavy, and it just got heavier and heavier as it went on. And although the game is quite fun, it is just not worth trying to find a way around the amount of crashes I was met with. And mind you-- my computer is not bad, it has all the required settings!!! I have played heavier games than this!!!

As for gameplay, overall my complains still remain the same tbh. Fun, and loved the graphics and Rook, but it was missing something story and character wise. It got better as the game went on tho, but I wasn't as invested as I was on previous games.

In the end I just don't know if I will finish it, the crashes just took all the fun I was having out of it :(
