If i only had one sentance to describe the game, it would've been something like "Unique charm and gameloop, and both are REALLY enjoyable"

You'll quickly fall in love with this game, even though it's unbalanced AF. At first, you'll think the game is unbelivably unfair to you. Then you discover all the good stuff. Like the backpack build, courage-cycle, finisher-Cara, Acid-chainsaw, overzealous+queen; The list of those goes on and on. You can make a broken build with just two cards and an item(or few), and it's a "fun" type of broken. Think of rigging in TBOI and you'll get the idea. You will be suprised by the amount of content this game has.

And as a plus, it's a niche game without much recognition. It doesn't even have a wiki. You will be totaly on your own, feel of discovery is amazing.

Give this lil fella a shot, won't regret it.

TL;DR: It's just a veteran's rant, go play it

I wish there was a way to leave a neutral review. Warframe is an exceptional game, there is no denying it, but still, I sway towards leaving a negative review.

I really, really love this game, because this game loves me. It respects me; it’s the only f2p I know that’s not gross, that’s not a p2w, that ACTUALLY has an internal economy, allowing you to get virtually anything just by trading with other fellas.

I still can’t wrap my head around the sheer amount of content that’ve been crammed in this silly space game. And I mean it, it’s actually absurd how much stuff this game has. But at the same time, it has an unbelievably low entry threshold. Anyone can just pick this masterpiece and play, without any other gaming experience really. All this content will be gradually found by the player. I mean, It even became a meme, with videos like “every 15 seconds game changes, but it’s still actually warframe”. I’m lovin it, there’s always stuff to do, there’s always things to experience, there’s always something new to learn and explore. The ultimate Game service. How could you not love DE for all of this? For how much they love their child and keep on polishing it, adding something to it constantly.

Well, you want to love all of this, but you just can’t bring yourself to do so. You can ask any waframe veteran “what’s the biggest problem of the game?”. You’ll have different answers, but all of them can be boiled down to the feel of “pointlessness\unnecessary(ty)” or “shallowness”. The ultimate goal of all the activities this game has – making the player stronger, and in the process entertain him. Something in the formula broke, and it’s not entertaining anymore. Maybe because of the powercreeping? You strive to become stronger, that’s cool and makes you feel awesome, it’s a power fantasy after all. But, you already just can throw a goofy ahh lookin circle into the room, and thus, rearrange the molecular structure of everything that was in the said room. There is no reason to become stronger. Well, at some point you will try to push limits. You’ll see some funny red numbers, overflow an integer a few times, and that’s it. You’ll revert back to something that was already enough by a huge margin. Because it’s convenient.

Over the course of the game’s lifespan it got so many new mechanics. It’s great really, allowing you to create a lot of different stuff. The variety, every time you consider doing something, overwhelms you, even after 1k hours spent in the game. Though, it’s a “good” type of overwhelming. Buuuuuut, all of those mechanics are REALLY strong AND they are disconnected from each other. They work with each other (as the should), sure, but they are not intertwined in some kind of sophisticated system. They just work. You’re able to ignore many mechanics by utilizing others, you can even ignore some basic ones, and get some funny red numbers with two mods, arcane and a subsumed ability. Well, it’s not THAT bad, but when you realize that EVERY part of the game is disconnected like this, it just siphons all the fun out for some reason. Yeah, every part of the game IS bound by the lore, but gameplay wise? Not. At. all. It’s just a bunch (a huge bunch, mind you) of playpens. They are not integrated; rather, they have some bridges to one another, while obeying some general rules.

I’m not a game designer, I can’t point something particular out, I just *FEEL* that something in this game is fundamentally wrong, and it causes it to lose all the fun. I just keep on playing out of inertia, out of that “I’ve already put so much time and effort into this, I can’t just stop” feeling. I don’t like this one bit, and I don’t know how to fix it.

And it looks like DE don’t really know either. They’re adding some endgame content. Some REALLY challenging content. Even though community is hyped about it, I don’t think that challenge is what endgame community needs. You know what was meta for the last 5 years? Convenience. Something that turns game into some roblox tycoon with huge funny numbers. Challenge is not very convenient, innit? And I don’t think it will bring back the fun.

But don’t let this rant get to your head. This game is awesome, exceptional really. Try it, you won’t regret it (unless you grow attached to it)
